ZOOLIBRI
ZOOlibri is a publisher that is
born in Reggio Emilia and begins its activity in 2001. It takes life from ideas
and experiences heaped up in the past 20 years by a dynamic work team that is
involved in the fields of animation, culture, comics, graphics, illustration,
reading, languages, writing, cinema, history. It is an independent publisher
that lives on the selling of its own books. ZOOlibri attends chiefly to the
publishing production (picture books) for kids and young readers and,
occasionally, to some special projects (societas). Besides the publishing
production, ZOOlibri organizes activities in which books, drawing, writing and
storytelling through images are the focus: meeting with the author,
laboratories, exhibitions, etc... ZOOlibri's work is born and develops thanks
to the continuous exchange of experiences between various professional figures:
sharing and contamination of genders is the base concept of our work.

AT WORK
At the present time ZOOlibri has a staff of about ten collaborators that
cover all the roles. Now almost 65 titles are in the catalogue. Among them
shine I like chocolate and The bear with the sword (over 30.000
copies each sold worldwide), Sweet nibbles and Peek-a-boo (chosen by Paediatricians
in many occasions), 60 partisan witnesses (collective no-profit
project with exhibition and selling of the works to celebrate the 60°
anniversary of Italian Resistance).

IN THE WORLD
On the international market ZOOlibri is involved as one of the most
active independent publisher: favourite markets for buying are the Flemish, Dutch,
German, Spanish, Anglo-saxon, with some excursions “out”. ZOOlibri buys titles
abroad and produces own titles, that then suggests abroad. The publisher
intention is to offer every year few titles of high quality. ZOOlibri's
production have been translated worldwide in various languages. As an example I
like chocolate in Arabic, Catalan, Galician, Korean, English
(North-America, Australia and New Zealand), Dutch, German, Spanish (2
editions), Portuguese (Brazil); The waterman and his fountain in Catalan,
Galician, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Portugal, Brazil), Russian, Slovenian,
Spanish; The bear with the sword in Complex and Simplified Chinese
(China), Dutch, English (world), French, German, Korean, Japanese (full), Slovenian,
Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (world), Thai.
ZOOlibri IN ITALY
Reached the twelfth year of activity, ZOOlibri's work has become popular
on the national market thanks to its innovative, funny ideas, thanks to the
originality and quality of every work. Most part of the titles in the catalogue
is added in various bibliographies of the national project “Born to
Read”(promoted by the Paediatricians Association and the Italian Libraries
Association), by the most important libraries and groups of Paediatricians.
After 2008 some titles are also on the national catalogue of Born to Read.
ZOOlibri works in particular with Paediatricians of the district of Reggio
Emilia and the Panizzi Kids Library, for whom ZOOlibri publishes some of its
titles in special editions with rounded edges that are given to the children as
a gift.
